Premature Ejaculation
The phrase Premature Ejaculation is taken from the Latin term ejaculatio praecox, which literally means "coming too early or prematurely". It is considered as the most common problem among men in the sexual aspect of their lives. Premature ejaculation is often characterized by a man's inability to control the ejaculation process. In many cases, premature ejaculation treatment is sought by men, especially if in over fifty percent of all his sexual experiences, he ejaculates too early.
When such is the situation at hand, then there is already a real problem of premature ejaculation on the part of the man and if this particular sexual difficulty continues to persist, premature ejaculation treatment may well be needed.
Previously, researchers hold the belief that premature ejaculation takes place if a man ejaculates merely two minutes after penetration; similarly, in the 1950's, Alfred Kinsey conducted a survey among a selected group of men and found out that, in over half of the men's sexual encounters, three quarters of them ejaculated within two minutes of penetration.
Of recent, however, premature ejaculation treatment is recommended by many sex therapists when a man's inability to control his premature ejaculation gets to interfere heavily with his or her partner's sexual as well as emotional well-being.
Sex experts use various techniques when it comes to the issue of premature ejaculation treatment. One of the most common of these techniques is the use of several forms of special exercises. One of these exercises is called the start-stop technique, sometimes referred as the "squeeze method". In this form of special exercise, different versions have been developed, but basically, this will involve you stimulating yourself, also known as masturbation, in order to get an erection. When the erection happens, you stop momentarily, up until the point when you begin to feel that you are beginning to lose your erection.
Premature Ejaculation Causes
Before you diagnose yourself as one who suffers from premature ejaculation and are wondering what are some premature ejaculation causes, ask yourself a couple of questions: Is it you who thinks that you suffer from premature ejaculation, or your partner? How long does it take you to climax after penetrating your partner? What is your idea of a "normal" sexual performance
Some men do suffer from premature ejaculation due to physical issues that prevent them from performing as they should. Consider the fact that, to ejaculate, a ton of reactions must all coordinate in your body at once to make it happen. A hormone called "neurotransmitter serotonin" (aka 5HT) also plays a large role in the ejaculation to happen, and when. Should there be any disruption to this hormonal level, then a problem can arise. It may either be a real hormonal issue that a man has grown up with, or it may be disrupted abnormally through the use of prescription drugs. To help alleviate this problem, doctors will often prescribe a "selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor" drug (otherwise known as SSRIs) that will cause a "delay" in your ejaculation.
Spinal cord injuries also play a major role in disrupting a man's sexual abilities, whether it be premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction. The nerves that allow a man to get hard and ejaculate are all centralized in the lower back, so any damage to these nerves is bound to raise issue with a man's sexual abilities.
Genetic issues have recently been suspected as being a strong link to premature ejaculation. Not that you should go ask your father, but chances are if he suffered from premature ejaculation, so will you.
When trying to determine what may be causing your premature ejaculation, be sure to check in with your health care professional. He or she will also be able to help you rule out any psychological issues that may be causing the issue, or assist you in finding a suitable sex therapist who will be able to help you regain control of your body once again.
Premature Ejaculation Treatments
Preventing Premature Ejaculation One of the first parts of treating problems of ejaculating too early is determining whether there is a physical reason that a man climaxes prematurely. If there are biological problems like erectile dysfunction, abnormal hormone levels or anxiety, treating those problems may eliminate most of the problems with this unfortunate condition that some men face. Most doctors and psychologists, however, recommend therapy and education about techniques to prevent the condition even if there is a clear biological cause
Sexual Therapy Treatment Sexual therapy is often recommended for men who complain of premature-ejaculations. Some of the techniques that sexual therapists use to delay ejaculations include:
Masturbation an hour or two before intercourse to make it easier to delay ejaculating during intercourse Avoiding intercourse in favor of other sexual activities to reduce the "pressure to perform" Using specific physical techniques to prevent and repeatedly "desensitize" the penis
Medication Treatment Occasionally, a doctor may prescribe a topical anesthetic to desensitize the penis and delay ejaculation. There are also some antidepressants that have the side effect of delaying the condition. None of these medications are approved by the FDA for this specific treatment, but are sometimes prescribed for that purpose.
Psychotherapy Treatment Finally, some doctors recommend counseling or psychotherapy to help men who suffer from premature-ejaculations. Working through problems in couple's therapy can often help reduce anxiety that can be a primary cause of premature ejaculation.
